Much time and consideration goes into the referral process at OTA-Watertown in
order to develop an appropriate treatment plan based on the unique needs of
each client. Our staff is prepared to answer questions and offer assistance
with any part of the process from intake to intervention.
Referral: All referrals and inquiries about our services are handled by our Client Coordinator,
Jasmine Kapadia. To initiate services, complete and return our
Contact Us
form and review our
financial policies.
Our Client Coordinator will respond to you within two working days
with an e-mail and a link to our intake webpage containing
directions for completing the first steps of our intake process and
additional financial information. If you have additional
questions you may contact our Client Coordinator by phone at
617-923-4410, ext. 104 or by email at
clientcoordinator@otawatertown.com.
Clinical Intake: After your initial inquiry, you will
complete an on-line intake form which will provide us with important
information on your needs. We will review your intake
information promptly and either contact you to schedule your desired
service or to schedule a clinical phone intake with one of
our therapists to obtain more information. During this telephone conversation, you will be able to ask questions and discuss
your concerns. We will help you determine which service will best meet your needs.
Evaluation: Our evaluations can include assessment of sensory processing; postural development;
motor planning; oral, eye-hand, and total body coordination; visual perceptual development; and handwriting.
Evaluations are scheduled for weekday and Saturday mornings and may require more than one session.
This process includes formal assessment as well as structured observations in our gross motor rooms
and is adapted to optimize the client's performance. Please
see our
evaluation handout to assist you in identifying which evaluation
best meets your needs.
Evaluation Conference: An evaluation conference is included
with our comprehensive, focused and specialty evaluations. Approximately
two to four weeks after the evaluation is completed, the
evaluating therapist will meet with you to discuss the results. At this time you will receive a
report, which may recommend intervention and/or make appropriate referrals to other professionals.
This report will also include recommendations and suggestions for improving your child's
performance at home and at school. Suggestions for home and work environments are provided for
adult clients.
Therapy: We offer both individual and group services in a comfortable and trusting
environment that enables clients to function at their best. We are widely recognized for our caring,
personal approach with our clients and with their families, who are an integral part of the process
of establishing and monitoring
intervention goals. Our therapists provide ample parent consultation time as part of each treatment
session and work with parents and educators to incorporate therapeutic adaptations into all aspects
of the client's life.
Our clinic is a model center for sensory integration. Designed for maximum therapeutic gains as well
as for emotional and physical safety, our rooms are equipped with specialized ceiling suspension
points and contain a wide variety of suspended equipment. Our therapeutic environment provides
a range of opportunities for sensory input while promoting physical development, challenging motor
planning, and encouraging social relationships.
